‘Arul’ Research Initiative for Species and Ecosystem(ARISE) Conservation Fellowship

Supporting Young Researchers for the Conservation of Threatened and Endemic Species

Are you a Master’s student in Tamil Nadu passionate about biodiversity and conservation?

The ARISE Conservation Fellowship – 2026, established by Arulagam, invites applications from Master’s students undertaking dissertation-based research with clear relevance to biodiversity conservation.

Fellowship Support

Grant Support: Up to ₹60000

Project Duration 6 Months

Up to 5 Fellows will be selected

RESEARCH PRIORITIES

 

• Threatened and endangered species
• Endemic and lesser-known species
• Plants, animals, and important ecosystems
• Habitat loss and other human-related threats
• Pollution and its impacts on biodiversity
• Community-based conservation
• Indigenous knowledge and local participation
• Citizen science and conservation activities
• Sustainable management of natural resources
• Innovative or technology-based conservation research
• Biodiversity-rich areas outside protected areas

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must:

• Be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree programme
• Study at a recognized college, university, or institution in Tamil Nadu
• Be undertaking a dissertation or research project
• Conduct the proposed research within India
• Have a project that is clearly related to biodiversity conservation
• Be able to complete the project within six months

Projects involving local communities, Indigenous knowledge, citizen science, or stakeholder participation are especially encouraged.

• Expected Decision: 31 October 2026
