Agroecology

Arulagam promotes agroecological approaches to strengthen sustainable food systems, enhance rural livelihoods, and improve environmental resilience across South India. Through capacity-building programs, Farmer Field Schools, and technical support, the organization equips farmers with knowledge and skills in natural farming, soil conservation, integrated pest management, and climate-resilient agricultural practices.

In partnership with Amritabhoomi, Arulagam has trained more than 200 farmers in Zero-Budget Natural Farming and sustainable land management practices. The initiative promotes the conservation of indigenous cattle breeds, the use of bio-inputs, and the preservation of traditional seed varieties through community seed banks, contributing to agricultural biodiversity and long-term sustainability.

To strengthen livelihood opportunities, Arulagam facilitates market linkages that enable farmers to access fair markets and improve the value of their agricultural produce. These efforts support increased farm incomes, reduced dependence on external inputs, and greater adoption of environmentally responsible farming practices.

The program has resulted in enhanced farmer capacities, improved awareness of sustainable agriculture, strengthened seed conservation efforts, and increased household food security. Through its integrated approach, Arulagam continues to advance ecological sustainability while supporting resilient farming communities.
