Internship Training Program for College Students, Coimbatore
Event Report
Time: 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM -23.04.2025
Venue: Arulagam Native Plant Nursery at KCT College Campus, Arulagam Nursery at Ganesapuram and Arulagam Office, NGGO Colony, Coimbatore.
6 female students from KCT Agri college Erode, 3rd Year, and 10 Male students from JKKMCAS college Erode,3rd Year participated in the internship program.
Program Overview:
The internship program began with an introduction to Arulagam and its initiatives in conserving native plant species through its nursery activities. Mrs. Kavitha Bharathidasan, the Nursery Supervisor, was introduced to the students. She provided an informative session covering:
- The names and characteristics of various native plants.
- The process of collecting seeds from natural habitats.
- Techniques used in seed processing and shifting for propagation.
Hands-On Activity:
As part of the learning experience, the students were assigned a Practical task involving seed breaking from the shell, which is an important step in preparing seeds for germination. The session was interactive and aiming to give students real-world exposure to native plant conservation practices.
Day 2- 24.04.2025
Location: Poonthalir Nursery, Ganeshapuram
On the second day of the educational visit to Poonthalir Nursery.
The students were guided by Mrs. Kavitha Bharathidasan, Nursery Supervisor, who explained the practical processes involved in the early stages of plant care and propagation.
Activities Covered:
Soil packing in polybags:
1.Girls packed -120 bags
2.Boys packed -90 bags
Hands-on learning included:
1.Shifting young plants
2.Packing techniques for saplings
3.Understanding germination of seedlings
4.The students showed teamwork during the tasks.
Day 3: 25.04.2025
Location: Arulagam, NGGO Colony -Coimbatore
On the final day of the program, all participating students assembled at the Arulagam Office.
They were welcomed by Ms. Nilitha, Administrative Coordinator, who greeted the students and provided a warm introduction to the organization. She introduced the Arulagam team members, outlining their roles and contributions to the organization’s mission.
Following this, Mr. Amirthalingam delivered a session that included:

A brief history and overview of Arulagam

An explanation of how the organization operates

Details on ongoing projects and field activities

Key focus areas such as wildlife protection, native plant conservation, and community involvement in environmental sustainability.

He explained about Farm-fit App Uses, Distributes the Pamphlet of Farm-fit & Vultures.

Arulagam Team Members requested the students to plant a single tree in their places.
The session aimed to give students a broader understanding of the organizational structure, its conservation efforts.
The program concluded with a feedback session, where students shared their experiences, learnings, and suggestions. The feedback reflected a deep appreciation for the hands-on exposure and insights into conservation work.
