About
Established in 2002, ‘Arulagam’ is named in memory of Arulmozhi, a passionate environmentalist and conservation enthusiast. ‘Arulagam’ meaning ‘Sanctuary of compassion’ has been carrying on Arulmozhi’s legacy in extending love and compassion for the little known, neglected life forms. Arulagam’s philosophy is one of inclusive and holistic, sustainable development wherein eco-conscious communities are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure the wholesome wellbeing of all life forms, habitats and ecosystems.
What We Do?
Arulagam endeavors to conserve flora and fauna – particularly endangered, neglected, less charismatic, and lesser-known species and their habitats in India, especially in Tamil Nadu.
Arulagam emphasizes robust science to address environmental issues and serves as a voice for the voiceless. We believe in a participatory approach to nature conservation, through inclusive partnership and capacity development of our various stakeholders so as to create an ecologically conscious citizenry and a culture of appreciation and good will towards our land, water and environment.
