Arulagam Honoured with Dual State Awards for Excellence in Wildlife and Nature Conservation

  1. Community Conservation Leadership Award - 2026

In recognition of its decade-long relentless efforts in Vulture Conservation, Arulagam received the "Community Conservation Leadership Award." The award was presented by the Honorable Minister for Forests, Thiru. Raja Kannappan, during a ceremony held at Sethumadai (Anamalai Tiger Reserve) on February 26, 2026. This award highlights Arulagam’s success in involving local communities to safeguard the critically endangered vulture species.

 

 

 

  1. Green Champion Award - 2026

Furthering its streak of success, Arulagam was also honored with the "Green Champion Award" for its exemplary work in Environmental Protection and the promotion of Native Plant Species through specialized nursery techniques in Coimbatore district. The award, which includes a cash prize of ₹1 Lakh and a citation, was presented on March 13, 2026, by the District Collector of Coimbatore, Thiru. Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, I.A.S., in the presence of District Forest Officer, Thiru. Venkatesh Prabhu, I.F.S.

 

 

Bharathidasan, Secretary, Arulagam said that these accolades belong to our dedicated vulture team—Ms. Sundari, Ms. Revathi, Mr. Paraman, and Mr. Santhosh Krishnan - whose tireless field work has made this possible. 

We express our deep appreciation to the Government of Tamil Nadu for its visionary approach to environmental conservation. On a personal note, I dedicate this honor to my late father, and my mentor late Arul whose guidance helped me embark on this journey of protecting our natural world.
