Burgur Semmarai breed cattle show and Vulture conservation propaganda

Animal Husbandry Department of Govt of Tamilnadu organized Semmarai cattle breed show at Burgur in Erode District. So as to conserve this very rare breed, a cattle show has been organized and declared open by Mr.Chinnayya, Minister for Animal Husbandry. Best cattle was selected among the group of cattle and prizes were distributed to their owners by Thoppu Venkatachalam, Minister for Environment.

Pamphlets about ill-effects regarding Diclofenac,which was banned for cattle by Govt of India, was handed over to Animal Husbandry Department by Arulagam Field Staff Mr.Paraman. The function was attended by Director of Animal Husbandry Mr.Palanisamy, District Collector Mr.Shanmugham, Veterinary doctors and Forest Department officials.

Arulagam has been trying to create Diclofenac free zone in Vulture foraging area. Various posters and banners were exhibited in the area to create awareness of Vulture conservation and appeal to shun Diclofenac for their cattle. Around 200 farmers participated in the exhibition along with their family. Pamphlets were also distributed not only to the visiting farmers about discouraging the use of Diclofenac, but also in the en-route places namely, Thattakarai, Thamraikarai, Thurusanampalayam. The activity was planned by Mr.S.Bharathidasan, Secretary of Arulagam and executed by Vulture conservation team namely, Murugesan, Venkitachalam and Paraman.
